Hi Jane,

If mulitple applications are giving you a problem, logic will tell you that
the culprit is a "low level" problem as indicated by the Type 2 error you
reported. That implies either directory problems or a problem with
something in your System Folder.

Start by running your ususal diagnostic check of your directory structures
using Disk Warrior, Norton Disk Doctor or Disk First Aid (at the very least)
Hopefully, you will find errors that are repairable.

If that doesn't do the trick, configure your extensions manager to run "OS 9
all" extensions and see if the problem doesn't go away. I don't believe any
of the three programs you mentioned rely on any active extensions to launch.

If that doesn't do the trick, check for suspect problem fonts. And if that
doesn't do it, perform a clean install of your system. I suspect that your
problem will go away before you have to resort to this.

Good Luck!
