Hi Diane, A "router" is the item you should be shopping for. A good, very affordable choice is the one Lee Larson purchased lately for about $100, the Netgear MR-314 four port wireless router. Whether you need wireless capability or not, this will afford you that future flexibility for just a tad bit more than a router without wireless capabilities. There are many to choose from but this also has a good review to back it up.
http://www.macworld.com/2002/07/reviews/routers.html The good folks at MacTown can sell you both the router and the G3 you are planning to purchase as well as assist you in setting it up.
