To answer Lee's question you will need to open them in QuickTime Player
(Pro Version if you have it) and hit cmd-j to get the Movie Properties
(Or look under the Movie Menu for the listing). Go through the
properties until you get the one for the audio track and for the video
track. Then it should tell you which codec was use to make the movie.
There are ways to get these tracks back in synchronized playback.
