As promised, this group now has a digested version. It will be
generated at 5:15 PM every day, and will contain all the messages
posted to the MacGroup list during the previous 24 hours. This way, you
can get all the MacGroup messages as one big e-mail, instead of having
them dribbled out to you one at a time as they are posted.

You can remain subscribed to the MacGroup list, and things will remain
as they are right now, or you can subscribe to the digest. The same
messages will eventually appear either way. (I guess a third
alternative is to subscribe to both, but I'll let you figure out a
reason to do that.)

To subscribe to the digest, send an e-mail containing in its body
nothing but the word "subscribe" to

macgroup-digest-request at erdos.math.louisville.edu

After a few minutes, you should get an e-mail message from the list
handler telling you how to confirm your subscription.

If you subscribe to the digest, you'll eventually want to unsubscribe
from the non-digested MacGroup, but I suggest waiting a few days to
make sure everything is working. I've no doubt that some things will
have to be tweaked before everything's running the way we want.

When you're ready to leave the non-digested MacGroup, send an e-mail
containing nothing in its body but the word "unsubscribe" to

macgroup-request at erdos.math.louisville.edu

I'd like to thank Ward Oldham and Jerry Yeager for helping me test out
the digest. Jerry, in particular, deserves a big round of applause for
writing a Perl program to do some much needed housekeeping. His program
will run for real for the first time tomorrow afternoon, so keep your
fingers crossed.
