I just got a LaCie External HD 160 GB since my internal HD is getting full.

I am supposed to use Apple's Disk Utilities to initialize this new HD in
Mac OS Extended however I can't figure out how to do so. I see options
for First Aid, Erase, Partition, RAID and Restore. I assume what I want
is probably in the Partition section but I can't see where or what.

Also I am confused as to whether I should use Mac OS Extended
(Journaled), Mac OS Extended, Mac OS (Case-sensitive, Journaled), Mac OS
Extended (Case-sensitive), UNIX File System and Free Space. The current
format of the LaCie HD is MS-DOS File System. Again I am assuming I want
Mac OS Extended, but it keeps jumping to Mac OS Extended (Journaled).

What do these different formats mean and what do I want. Also how do I
get it?

Too many options is too confusing. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
