I think mine choses the proper network automatically, but perhaps I'm  
wrong... it certainly saw Pitt automatically last night, saw my home  
wireless hub at home, and saw the wireless server here at school.  
OK... this could do it:

. Open the Network Preference Pane
. Under 'Show' choose the Network Status
. Select the Airport connection
. Click on Configure
. Change 'By default, join:' to Automatic

You should be fine, then.
