Every month the list FAQ is sent out, giving instructions how to subscribe and unsubscribe. Most people can follow the directions from the FAQ, making subscription management almost automatic. There are a few who don't, or can't, for some reason. That's okay with me because I always expect some people to fall through the cracks.
Some people shouldn't be allowed to own computers. Early in the morning he wrote and asked me to remove him from MacGroup. It being a busy day, I didn't get around to doing so until the evening. Late in the afternoon, no doubt feeling he wasn't getting the service he paid for, he asked again and again and again and again and ... I discovered that Apple's mail program doesn't gracefully handle more than 5000 new mail messages in an account.
