But isn't it true that there is an interdependence between the LCS and
the people on this List ? Isn't it true that people running this List
and maintaining it are by and large officers or members of the LCS?
Isn't it true that members of the LCS as well as members of the List
are contributing extensively to answering questions and are giving
their time and expertise to the flourishing of the exchange on this
list? And could it not be deduced from that fact, that it might be
appropriate that in some way one would want to contribute a little
cash? I at least feel that I owe a lot to kindness ,know-how and
patience of the experts. (Maybe there is a philosophy that giving or
receiving advice might be reciprocal - well, I am usually on the
receiving end only )There is also a newsletter to print ,and we do use
somebody's facilities. I personally like to see the interaction
between list members and LCS members , would not want to lose
connection with the LCS, since the hands-on-real-life experience is
still best ( although personally my eyesight keeps me from driving in
dark and bad weather), I would, however, as many of you expressed last
year, like to see a bit more structure in the society, a printed
LCS member list at the date of joining or renewal with valid email
addresses and the names of members and officers ( my email in the
Access for instance is wrong) and a budget report; and if people don't
want their name showing up on the website which is understandable ,at
least once a year all members would know who else is part of the
group they joined. I have never been a member of a group without a
member list. As things stand now, the LCS member list is a mysterium
magnum, the LIST list of course is one of those amorphous creatures
brought about by the nature ( Wesen) of the computer beast and
members are "in flux".
