Hi All, What kind of backup software, other than Retrospect, can I use with my Sony AIT TSL SA300C tape-drive autoloader (SCSI) on my G4 500 MHz AGP Graphics machine?
I have Retrospect, but the new version 6.0, designed for Panther, won't work with the ATTO SCSI card that Apple installed on my older G4. The card is a UL2D instead of UL3D, so Retrospect 6 won't even "see" my tape drive. Retrospect 5.0 will "see" the tape drive as well as back up other computers mounted on the host computer's desk top, but it struggles to backup large hunks of information, in my experience. I can upgrade to Retrospect 5.1 if I have to. But I hate to do that if another application is just as good or better. Carbon Copy Cloner (neat application) won't see the other computer's hard drives mounted on the host machine's desk top, so I can't use that one; and DejaVu is the same. It only backs up the host machine. Sooooo.....does anyone know of a reliable backup software that can back up mounted volumes, as well as "see" my tape drive, connected to my present SCSI PCI card? (I know I could just back up to an external disk drive, but I like the tape drive and would really like to get it working.) Does Panther provide a way to do this? Any help would be gratefully appreciated. TIA Jane Blake | The next meeting of the Louisville Computer Society will | be February 24.
