On my daughter's ibook, I installed 10.4 by the method of making a
back-up of her previous system, reformatting her HD, and installing
the new version on her now-fresh-as-snow drive. I think I then use
migration assist. to transfer over her photos, songs, and files. My
trouble - and the teenage nagging - started when she tried to find
her old aol buddy/ chat names, and files. I found it impossible to
move them from the old to the new. Instead of asking this group and
solving my problem, I simply created a new log-in account on her
drive, hooked up the firewire drive where the back-up was and copied
the cloned copy over and upgraded it to the new version. Smooth
sailing and happy daughter.
Here's my worry: Over the months since, she has logged in to one
account or the other and stored files, and stuff. I want to delete
one of the accounts since she has no need for two. Is there a way to
view each account together to compare what is in each? Almost a
split screen view of each. Could I firewire her ibook together with
my powerbook... and have one account showing on hers, and the other
account showing on mine? And then drag the 'important' stuff over to
hers. Did I just answer my own question, or will this work?
Are both accounts using twice the HD space of just one?
Thanks for your help.
