Apple has the connector patented and isn't licensing it. I also want an auto adaptor and did some searching a few weeks ago. There are a few options: The Mikegyver Power Travel Kit [1] is made by cutting the tip off an Apple airline power adaptor and adding hardware so it can be used in both an airplane and a car. It isn't cheap because they have to start with a real Apple part. They also sell a manual telling you how to do it yourself, if you want to take the wire cutters to your Apple airline adaptor.
