Thanks for your note. I reread my column today and while it did not say that iPods require subscription to iTunes, I can see how you might have drawn that conclusion. I have edited the version on the Web to remove the specific reference to iTunes. I don't have a bias against Apple. My first computer was an Apple, I have owned Macs and iPods over the years and I think that the iPod is, as Steve Jobs might say, an insanely great product. The iPod is so well known that when I write about other digital music players, I think it is helpful to compare them to the iPod. Ric ------ End of Forwarded Message
