Ward,

I think the migration assistant only gave me options of transfering from 
a firewire drive--which this enclosure is not (usb2)--or from a 
partition on the existing drive.
I maybe missed something there.
Macbook didn't allow the system folder to copy to the desktop anyway, so 
I guess I got lucky there.
I'll let you know what happens.
