Web app's where what Steve was pushing at WWDC. Which are just web sites made for mobile Safari. This SDK will let developers make native app's that will run with the OSX mobile that is used on the iPhone and the iPod Touch. I can foresee several app's such as a checkbook app that sync's back to your financial program when you get home at the end of the day that would be useful.

Didn't Steve announce this at the WWDC? I seem to remember him making a large deal about it being based on Safari which would make it easy to create apps for it.
