Well, I went ahead and did it. I got my copy of Leopard at MacAuthority
and I got a nifty little stuffed leopard with it!

I went for the update installation, just popped it in and let it go. It
was kind of annoying waiting through the disk confirmation, but I just
did some dishes while I waited.

The whole installation on my aluminum iMac took about 45 minutes and
surprisingly, nearly all the apps I use work. Filemaker 7 works, but
after I quit, it gave me an unexpectedly quit notice. BTW, version 6 and
verson 7 both work, at least to the modest amount I used them just to see.

I'm writing this on my old version of Thunderbird, and it still works
fine as does Firefox. I'm even downloading some desktop photos using
Thoth, one of the quirkier, never-to-be-upgraded-again apps and it's
working fine too. In fact, the only app that didn't work (so far) is a
third-party utility that made CD covers. It just gave me a warning box
that it wouldn't run under OS 10.5. No loss, I don't even remember
downloading it.

I like the Cover View browser and you can really tell which apps'
previews were made for it.

The Dock takes some getting used to, the indicators for the open apps
are not as easy to see, but that may just be age.

I'm gonna start playing with the Apple apps, should be a fun evening.
