I almost bricked my iPhone trying to update (not modded btw). I was trying a manual install and then it just wouldn't respond after a couple of seconds into the update saying that there was an unknown error. I ended up downloading a fresh restore image, re-downloading iTunes, restarting my computer, plugging in my iPhone from a USB 2.0 card into my stock 1.1 and finally restoring the iPhone. That was the only way I got it back to working status. I was freakin out for a bit. That's what I get for trying to do things early.
But yes, I do notice that Mail is a bit faster. I heard that non- Apple custom ringtones can work again (specifically iToner) with 1.1.2. lol.
