I'm with you, Jerry. I tolerate the mall experience, but do not enjoy it. I appreciate Apple's entering the retail arena as it gives the brand (more importantly the superior products) a higher profile.
I had to take my new iMac 24 for warranty repair this week. One choice was get a 'reservation' at the Oxmoor store. The best one was for 8:40 pm the next day. This would follow and precede a two hour drive. Another was to go to 'the Place', an authorized Apple service center in Bowling Green, any time I wished and requiring only one hour's drive. Naturally I chose the latter. The staff took care of me promptly and I spent almost two hours with different sales/service/ owner persons talking Macs and technology. They were glad to do so despite the fact I was there for warranty work. I am sure they hoped I would return for future purchase (this was my first visit) and I will. the Place is located on Fountain Square, downtown, Bowling Green. Hours are 10 am to 6 pm M-F and reduced hours on Saturday. They have a good stock of Macs, Apple and after market accessories , and software. Just as at the Apple Store, they will gladly demonstrate products and let you compare as well as offering advice depending on your individual need. I believe, they honor Apple Education discounts, but don't take my word alone. In other words, they are much like MacTown was and am sure much like MacAuthority is. ctw On Nov 14, 2007, at 10:15 AM, Jerry Freeman wrote: i'm simply not the mall person that apple targets?preferring the experience of mactown in it's early days. i left oxmoor feeling the need for piercing, trick haircut, quiet, and grateful for the ability to purchase online. best...jf _______________________________________________ The next Louisville Computer Society meeting will be November 27 at MacAuthority, 128 Breckinridge Lane.
