Apparently Stephenson is pissed because Apple is theoretically
working with Google on a 700 Mhz band device and this means a loss of
funds to AT&T. So he is showing his displeasure with Apple, by trying
to crush sales of iPhones during the holiday buying season, hoping
that if folks know that there is a better phone on the way buyer will
hold off and wait for the 3G phone. But Apple gets the last laugh
anyway if they are working with Google on a device to use the 700 mhz
band, as the service will more then likely be cheaper, if not free,
and if Apple is making the first device that is usable on the new band
then they'll make a ton of money, way more then they've made with the
AT&T deal.....
