I recently had to reinstall my OS, but couldn't get the CD open to load
the OS. I was taught to do it from the open firmware panel. It's
tricky to reach for my small hands, but I eventually did it. Disconnect
any external HD.
Turn off computer. Restart with the button while holding down all at
once: propeller option "O" "F".
Once at that screen, the text command is "eject cd" which both opens
and closes.
To return to the GUI, the command is "mac-boot" & hold down "C" when you
press "return".
I hope I got this right. If not, I can't correct it, having written it
down by rote. Some genuine under-the-hood mechanic will correct if it
