This usually can be fixed by opening that folder's Info panel  
(highlight the folder and press Apple-I, or choose Get Info under  
Finder's File menu) and making sure that the currently logged on user  
has read & write permissions for that folder.

You may also need to apply those permissions to enclosed items in that  
folder, which you do (in Leopard) by clicking on the lock icon,  
entering your user password, and opening the little dropdown menu at  
the bottom of the Info panel (has sprocket icon) and selecting "Apply  
to enclosed items."

It sounds like you've already done step one, but not clear if you've  
tried step two.
