Jerry, Over the years I have had so many of these go bad, some would not work right out of the box but Apple will repair or replace no matter how old if you have a machine with Apple Care. Some of mine were well over a year old but since I could give them a machine that had the extended warranty they had no questions and replaced the defective unit. This doesn't affect you since yours is so new but I wanted to share my experiences with getting them replaced.
