Anne, The format of FileMaker database files hasn't changed since they totally revamped it with FileMaker 7. Databases created with FMP 7, 8, 8.5, and 9 will all have the .fp7 extension. They will all open each others' files as well. Later versions of the FileMaker program will be able to do more with the files, but they'll all be able to see and work with the data pretty much the same. Anne, feel free to ask me any FileMaker questions, on the list or off. I also can point you at a bunch of resources as you figure out what you want to do with your new skill. j.
