iMac flat screen 15" 800mhz (lampshade) OS 10.3.9 various external hard drives. Previous thread about using Superduper to make disk image backup for availability of OS 9 after upgrade of RAM and to OS 10.5 ------------
Got the disk image of iMac lampshade finally backed up onto yet another dual connection firewire drive I have that I had forgotten about completely since it stays hooked up to the 9600 via an adapter card and is formatted Mac (journaled). I guess maybe I could store a disk image/virtual machine on the fat32 but only after it was created with a more acceptable destination. Anyway then begins the problem. I mounted the disk image on the iMac, selected the OS 9 system for the startup. Restarted fine. OS 9 in all its beauty (I loved it) came right up. Problem is the mouse is bluetooth via usb adapter and no software found to run on OS 9! The wired Apple mouse that came with the iMac is long since dead. I even got it out and took the cover off to see why. It looks like a burned spot/short where the wire goes in. Thought, OK Boot from Tech Tools disk and change startup. CD drawer won't open. Tried power button restart with f12 key held down. No go. OS 9 tells me I can map function keys by doing things which I can't w/no mouse. The keyboard is wired and works fine. **Is there an OS 9 keyboard command for open cd drawer? (Curses yet again on the genius who ditched the paper clip hole!!!!) **Or any suggestions where to get an apple wired mouse--the white one with the clear plastic overlay-- which would not need additional software to work w/OS 9? Sorry for all the questions in one email. I ask you guys first because I tend to get bogged down in the Apple discussion sites and lose my way and spend half a day in there!! Thanks again, Ann _______________________________________________ The next Louisville Computer Society meeting will be April 22 at MacAuthority, 128 Breckinridge Lane.
