The above says it is for iPhoto 2 and up.
With a link to iPhoto 1.1 work around.

Ed, I am in the same position as Stuart, I use iPhoto and want to  
move my pictures to an external drive.  I looked at the site you  
suggested which  said , " go to iPhoto Preferences , then to the  
Advanced tab".  My version of IPhoto ( 5 ) does not have the Advanced  
tab.  What do I do now?
