I have a similar thing happen with my kids school. I have been attributing it to my Touch not liking their router.

Example HP has wireless printers that send out a signal that Looks like a basic wifi connection but is only good for printing. What Lee is saying is go to the Settings> Wi-Fi Networks and you can see what type of signal you are getting and if there is a connection. If you look at this page: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398 You see that the router has given the iPhone all the info it needs to get to the internet. If you looked at the connection where you could not access the internet the Info would be missing. For many public free wifi connections I always fire up the safari browser and accept Their conditions for using the connection before I do anything. I'm at home now and connected to my home wireless network and, at least in the case of Safari, I am able to connect to the internet. Any clues as to why I couldn't connect while out and about?
