Snopes it the FIRST place you go to check on those too-good-to-be-true (or too-bad-to-be-true) emails. It is also handy to debunk (or occasionally confirm) juicy political gossip. Bookmark it. Use it all the time, especially if you are tempted to forward that latest scary email to everyone you know. For instance, you can read all about the decades-long myth that the FCC is entertaining thoughts of outlawing religious broadcasting. Or my personal favorite, needles in payphones! (what's a payphone?) ::-) About once a week I am tempted to send a link to a particular article on Snopes as a response to something a friend of a friend has forwarded to me. Most of the time I restrain myself from a vicious counter attack.
