I bought a new MacBook Pro a few weeks ago and used Migration
Assistant to transfer information from my old G4 desktop. Most of the
information transfered OK, but there are a few things that seem
'linked' to the old computer. For example, when I try to download
anything in Firefox, it tried to download to the G4s desktop. I have
reset the preferences in Firefox, and even gone as far as to
completely uninstall Firefox and all its setting, passwords, etc, and
still it tries to find the old G4. (I know that is what it is doing
because the partial download will show up on the G4s desktop) iTunes
is another program that is causing problems. I think all my music is
trying to link back to the G4. The only complication that I had with
Migration Assistant was that I have a second harddrive in the G4 and
has a lot of my information stored on it, and migration assistant
didn't move those files I had to do it manually. Anyone have any ideas?

BTW, when I shut down the G4, I can download to my Macbooks desktop
without complication. This is not really a solution however since, (1)
my daughter still uses that computer and (2) it is getting to the
point I am afraid to shut it down for fear it or the old monitor won't
come back up!
