My neighbor cannot start-up her iMac. It reaches a white screen with
the Apple logo and the spinning spokes, and stays there forever.
I started it up from my TechToolPro CD and ran the battery of tests.
The computer passed them all. I tried to re-start. Fails as before.
The CD is still in the iMac.
I start-up again from the TTP CD, and run test disk permissions.
FAIL. I run fix disk permissions (several times). FAIL.
Push the on/off button to turn the computer off. TTP CD still in iMac.
We have the Apple software install and software restore CDs that came
with the computer.
