Just a suggestion, but everyone should have at least two or three email addresses.
I use my main email for family. This has never been given out or posted anywhere online except for my bank. And that listing has a different middle initial so I can get an idea if they sell it. The second address is for friends and business associates I can trust. I hardly ever give this one out and it can easily and quickly be changed. The third is for people who can't control their inbox and address lists such as aol users, morons and windows users, if there really is a difference. This one gets a good deal of spam as well as the "grandma posts." You know, the ridiculous web links and videos. I'm expecting another load of "the moon will be as big as mars" again this August. The fourth is the most fun, it's the one I use online when I have to register for access. These I've found are mostly the ones going to the phishing sites. Every time I register for a website or some sort of offer, within three days this mailbox gets 10-15 different "offers." Once every couple of weeks I'll go through and mark all the spam. And since there a lot more sites that require a phone number for registration, I'm happy to give them access to my private phone number...502-585-5961. I use an app called "POPMonitor" to glance at my email boxes. It very handily gives you a list of the headers for your inbox which you can read, delete or ever block email without having to open your mail program. I use it to get rid of the crap and huge files before I waste time trying to open it with my mail reader. The spammers and phishers are way too clever for the auto filters. This way I get the satisfaction of deleting them myself.
