Stuart what model mini is it. Does it have the integrated graphics or the 
NVIDIA card.
You might want to check the resolution of the TV. What screen size is it
New Mini spec's here:

Might be resolution issues.

I got one of these cables to connect my mini to my flat screen tv (Vizio 720 
Eco model) and the picture is terrible. Lots of lines and bleeding bright 
colors. Am I doing something wrong?  Or is it because I got a cheap cable 
online (Radio Shack was selling these cables for $50 and I got a cable through 
Amazon for $6). Is there a setting on my mini or tv I am overlooking?  I was 
hoping I could watch movies, surf the net etc., but can't with it this way. 

Help appreciated!
