I've read that one full cycle at least once a month should prolong the
battery life. Once a week wouldn't be a bad idea.
Most of my systems are plugged in the majority of the time, but I make
sure to sun them down (espacially the old Macbook that is now a media
center hooked to the TV) monthly. I've got an iCal event/alarm to
remind me.

Great advice. I used to keep mine plugged in all the time, but my
teenage daughter would only connect her macbook to the power when it
died. Result: in 18 months, I've had to replace my battery (thank
you AppleCare!), and hers is going strong.

I've always been told to let it cycle through. Charge it up and let
it run down. They are not made to be plugged in all the time.
Eventually the battery will quit taking and holding a charge.

I've been keeping my lovely little MacBook plugged in all the
time, lately, since I've not had to take it out of the house.
I've been wondering if that's a good thing--I use it most every
day but the battery never gets run down. I would appreciate any
guidance--Ben Zion Hershberg
