Just a thought, perhaps a PLIST entry is corrupt. You mention that
you pinged the Exchange server and the website, did you try both the
name and the actual IP address. This behavior sounds like a DNS issue
where the name may not resolve. If this issue pops up try pinging
both the name and the IP address of the server in question, this will
narrow down what is going on.
Just my two cents. If you got lost in my tech speak, your tech
support will know what to do. : )

Ed,
It’s an Ethernet network and we use DHCP with manual addresses.

Subject: [MacGroup] Internet/Email connect problem
I’m having a periodic problem on one computer running Leopard here
at our company. Right now this is the only computer running Leopard
so I don’t know if it is just this computer or a Leopard issue. The
end user says it happens about once a day.
We’re running Safari and Firefox along with Entourage for email and
they work fine most of the time. But occasionally if we try to
access a website using either browser we get nowhere. If we try to
send or receive mail using Entourage it gives us an error message
also as if the network were down.
The last time this occurred I used Network Utility to try to ping
our exchange server and the website we were attempting to access
and it went through fine. I did a traceroute on the website and it
went through fine as well, but the browsers and email won’t
connect. If we reboot the computer all works fine again for a while.
Would anyone have any ideas where to look for a solution?
