AppleCare: I believe you can buy AppleCare anytime before the computer
is a year old. I can't help you with an outside source because I've
always bought AppleCare when I bought a new computer. One of the
values of buying AppleCare at the time you buy a new computer is that
any other Apple item on the receipt is also covered. Like if you get
an AirPort or TimeMachine. I know Amazon offers AppleCare (depends on
your machine: 15" and up portable @$248.75 and Snow Leopard, also the
online computer stores like MacMall (Snow Leopard starting at $24.99)
In the past I've gotten a lot of hardware and software from MacMall.
Never had any problem. Small Dogs Electronics is probably a good
place. I get their newsletter and they sound like they know what they
are doing. I've never bought from them though. And I have friends who
get a lot of computer stuff off Bay, but they really know their stuff.
Right now you can but Snow Leopard for $36.95, free shipping. Of
course it's $29 from Apple or any Apple store. Google till you find an
offer you like and then ask around for references.

Hey guys,
Just had a bad experience at the apple store in Oxmoor mall. They
were a little busy so I'll go back. And since none of you can do
anything, I'll keep all the details to myself.
So here's where I need your help: I'm looking for a copy of Snow
Leopard and Apple Care for my MacBook. Here are my questions. Snow
Leopard: Have any of you found a really cheap place to buy it? I
don't want a bootleg copy or anything. I am more than willing to
buy my own. I just wondered if you all might have seen if cheaper
in a store or online. Apple Care: I also need Apple Care. Since
this is the first time I have tried to buy it after owning the
computer for a while, is there anything different? Anyone out there
had any good/bad experiences buying it after owning the computer for
a while?
Thanks guys!

PS: I am likely moving to Houston Texas soon. Anyone know of a mac
group like this down there?
