[MacGroup] Trash

I have an application (Epson Scanner) that I cannot get rid of because  
it is supposedly open. However I can't figure out where or how to  
close it.  Information says it was last opened September 5, 2009;  
however earlier today it was in the trash and I could not "trash" it  
because it was running so I brought it out of the trash and tried  
opening it. Now it will not go back into the trash can.

How can I get rid of it?
