Thought I would ask first Stuart, You can only install Tiger (10.4) or Leopard (10.5) on that. Either will work fine. I would recommend Leopard, for the features, but Tiger might run a bit faster. Do an "Erase and Install" to start afresh. Install from the disk and then get all the updates.
