But Nolan, what is it that you actually want to sync? I got airport
Express , too. I like to be able to ride down to my basement and have
that machine in the same condition the one upstairs is in, and the
one in the kitchen also show the same as the one i have rigged up
beside my bed, on which I write now.
I get everything served into every machine.
But I also could just connect the machines by connecting to the
server and getting my Macpro's stuff unto my desktop here and I can
work on it all here.
That is probably what you want. I cannot explain how it works. I just
-in Finder- go to "go" and click on "connect to Server" I have to
put in my password and then get the whole or part of the other
machine unto my desktop to work with. I just did it to make sure. It
is a great help. I can shove things back and forth, put stuff into
folders on the other machine/s and finish letters etc on my machine
which are actually halfway typed ion the other computer. It is very
helpful.
I am sure somebody will come up with some answers.

Thanks to John and Marta for your gracious responses to my
question. You've taken me into territory I'm not familiar with,
so I'm giving it a lot of thought. As a semi-invalid free-lance
writer, I "don't get around much anymore," so I really don't need
to synchronize iCal, Address Book, or Mail (I'm currently using
google-mail). My wife owns the only iPhone in the family. And my
primary browser is Firefox, not Safari. I use my Macs mostly for
word processing and communicating with editors. Safari may be
better than Firefox, but I tend to dance with them that brought me
-- i.e., I'm used to Firefox and don't switch apps unless there's a
dire necessity. I also note that MobileMe is $99 per year, while
for the same amount, Airport Express is forever. But thanks again
for your suggestions; I'm still mulling over the situation.
