Who's confused? I think Marta may be right about what I want, but I don't
know exactly how to do it. Does it involve MobileMe or Airport? When I go
to "Connect to Server, " I get a box which wants to know "Server Address,"
about which I know nothing. (It also asks for "Favorite Servers," which in
my case I suppose would be Google ??)

John supports Airport, which I like, based on what I've read on the Airport
website.

Now Jonathan suggests DropBox, which seems to be more powerful and, best of
all, is free.

Essentially, what I want is the ability to have my two Macs synched so that
whatever files apppear on one will appear on the other. I have no problem
with apps; the new MacBook arrived while I was in the hospital, and my wife,
bless her heart, transferred *everything* on the desktop computer to the new
laptop. So the laptop has, essentially, all the apps I need. But other
things have changed since then, not only with files but also bookmarks,
which I use a great deal for research

If there has to be a "master" and a "drone," then the desktop would be the
master and the laptop the drone. But I'm hoping for a way to connect them
so they'll both be identical.

At this point, I'm going to contact John off-line and see what further
advice he can offer about Airport. Meanwhile grateful thanks to Marta,
Jonathan, and others who chimed in on this matter. As Mickey Mouse (or was
it MacArthur?) once said, "I shall return."
