What actually does "restore" do? I am always afraid when I do that, I
might lose the changes I made .

My daughter says that after updating the software on her iPhone
(one of the first 3G phones), many of her apps no longer work. I
thought that was odd, because one of my apps now works after
updating my Edge-only phone. Any suggestions?
