I use system 10.5.8, and none of the little dots next the icon ever
come on. Never did, as best I can recall.

Has anybody noticed this behavior?
It's nothing major, but when I have Firefox open, the glowing light
under the icon is not glowing. In fact there is no normal indication
that Firefox is open. All my other icons have the little light under
them. One of those curious things.
version 3.6.2
