With an external flash, battery exhaustion is not something you worry
about in a camara. But you should carry a few extra AAs for the flash.

Harry, I have never needed an extra battery. Mine lasts for weeks on a
charge. Now if I was shooting all day for pay, I might want a spare,
but for the shooting I do a spare is not needed.
