Well, taking the SD card out and plugging it in directly worked. Not sure why I can't go directly from my camera anymore???

Now, I have a couple other questions... are you importing the files direct from the camera, via the camera cable, or inserting the memory card , and reading from that. Also, it may be the type of JPG file the camera software creates, that the Canon camera software creates thats not compatible with iPhoto.
