Bill,

I can't give an answer on wattage but I do know I wouldn't want to take the
chance on frying a computer. While on vacation last year I found the backup
firewire drive I had was being eaten up faster than our deficit is being
created. I got on line, ordered a new drive and had it overnighted to the
hotel I was staying. The next day was an unreal blizzard but the FedEx guy
made it, so from when I placed the order late in the day I had my solution
before 10:00 the next morning. Cost a little but in your case it would be the
safe play.

I placed the order with MacMall, those folks are always great on the items I
have bought from them in the past.
