Not sure if I followed the first parts of this thread, but today I saw a review on MacFixIt that mentioned a free anti virus program for Macs.
Here is the opening paragraph:

I haven't tried it yet... just passing along info.  If I wasn't headed to the Genius Bar tonight to solve some buggy problems on my MBP, I might be downloading it to test it out.

There are other avenues available for virus' to get on the computer, other then from the internet.  i.e. burned cds/dvds, thumb drives, etc.  you can look at iAntivirus, for one possible program.
