I think I already knew the answer when I asked it. I was just hoping, however, it does make sense that the ipad would not have that capability. I mainly use my computer for email and usual office functions, plus I do a lot of work on my genealogy program. One thing I could not live without is a good spreadsheet program. Is there a good app for spreadsheets for the ipad?
