Since upgrading to iOS 4.2.1, I've found the built-in printing to be a limited and clumsy. Yesterday, I downloaded the demo version of a new program called Printopia that makes printing from an iGadget easy and as feature-filled as Apple should have made it.
You run Printopia on any Mac in your local network and it advertises AirPrint queues for all the printers that Mac can use. In addition, it gives you queues for printing to a PDF that can be saved at a location on that Mac, or saved into your DropBox. It works perfectly and is a no-brainer to set up. The program is about $10 and there is a free demo so you can try before you buy. This would be a great holiday gift for anyone with an iDevice and a Mac.
