Marta, I am not sure what it does new but supposedly it handles data between devices more readily and better.
I haven't yet upgraded because the new calendar doesn't play well with system 10.5 and below. In the next week or so I will be upgrading my system to Snow Leopard and then switching to the new calendar on mobile me.
