Bill, I had the same question when I purchased my wife her iPad.  The folks at 
Apple said to have her own account I would have to set up a Family plan under 
MobileMe, which at this point I did not do so everything that is on mine is on 
hers.  I also know what you are saying about "sharing" info.   I was emailing a 
classmate of some 49 years ago about a couple others that were on FaceBook and 
so out of line.  I wrote a disparaging remark about one of them and by the time 
I got home my wife was lowering the boom on me for stooping to such lows as she 
had been on her iPad and since the emails are synced she saw what I was 
saying....UGH your sins will find you out!!

I don't know the answer to the question about apps, I didn't ask them so I 
wonder how that works, i'll be anxious to see if any on the list can help with 
that one.  If there isn't any answer you could call Apple and I'll ask the next 
time I am in the store.
