That's actually not too bad, Nora. You aren't going to notice any slowdown due 
to a full hard drive with that much left. It really only get real bad when you 
get down to less than a few gigs left. Bigger hard drive would be nice, but I 
wouldn't think that is you slow down problem. After you mentioned that you had 
problems once you start up FireFox, I would bet money that FF is the problem.

I would disable all your extensions in FF and see if that doesn't help. If not, 
then you remind me of the guy who complained to his doctor that it hurt when he 
moved his arm a particular way, and his doctor said, "Then don't do that."

If FF slows down your computer, then don't run it.
