Luann,

I was on vacation and couldn't respond to your email, you have the problem 
solved now but maybe you somehow created a new Library for your grandson's 
photo's, and I was hoping that someone might mention that you can search your 
libraries by holding the "OPTION" key when you start Aperture, you will get a 
dialogue box that allows you to "choose" your libraries.  

You might see if there is another library that would have the photo's you 
couldn't find.  May not be and now irrelevant,  but for future use this may be 
an option.
