P.S. Also re. Marta: She will probably not want me to mention this, but there are likely a few of you who would like to know, and should know.
Those of you who have ever met her will be sorry to hear that Marta's indomitable spirit is sorely being tested these days after losing her husband of 62 years a few weeks ago.
Dayton was a great and accomplished guy. A hero of WWII, liberator of a prison camp in what soon after became East Germany, and a recipient of the eternal gratitude of the South Korean people, Dayton was a fascinating person to coax 86 years of stories from.
But he is best known in these parts as the support that enabled his lovely and dynamic German bride, Marta, to be such a rich part of the University of Louisville and the whole community.

Interestingly, his service will be on February 9th--what would have been his 87th birthday.
